Fast times in Shanghai - Day 1

Yeah

We’re officially out here in Shanghai and enjoying ourselves to the Nth degree. Actually, I we haven’t even been out here for 24 hours, but we’re already filling out the paperwork to transfer out here.

Kidding… somewhat.

It’s been a good day

Master Chief

After a grueling week of things not swinging my way, I finally caught a break. The Yankees won after digging themselves a 2-0 hole in Cleveland. Mike Hart has always been the man, but now he’s the all-time man. And Florida got served two losses in a row. Yeah!

Finally got a little bit of time to relax this weekend and play Halo 3. I was quite surprised I finished it, because I rarely get enough time to blast through a game before the next batch of games hits my desk, but I really did enjoy it. Never having put in significant time with the first two iterations, I kinda didn’t really follow the storyline until the last couple of chapters in the game, but it was pretty enjoyable. It’ll be interesting to see how it competes with the uber-praised Bioshock and upcoming favorites, Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin’s Creed, and Call of Duty 4, for the game of the year awards.

Personally, I still prefer my games with chainsaws.

The view from the Inside

Bonita

Too much going on this weekend with friends in town. Hen, my bro, and I painted the town way too red and somehow Kelly Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor. I still think its a scam. UM beat Northwestern, though in less than impressive fashion. But then again, after this weekend of upsets, winning in any fashion is acceptable. The Yanks are preparing for the playoffs while the Mets choked…badly. Halo 3 got released, and my inbox got flooded with requests. Digital Life was ok, but not great like last year. They’re still trying to Save Domino apparently.

Oh yes, and Bonita on Bedford is delicious. That is all.

Mike Hart is God edition

Mike Hart

We’ve seen more talented runners. Thomas, Perry, Morris, Biakabatuka, etc. But man, seriously, is there anymore who does more with less than Leon Michael Hart?

It seems this most recent win against Penn State brought because the unofficial love-in weekend for him. Facing a real team, and doing it without Chad Henne for the first time, Mike took the team on his back and did everything he needed to do. Especially to protect a very green freshman quarterback. He also served up the two most “Mike Hart” plays in his career.

The one yard touchdown run in which he seemed to get hit by every Penn State defender was a thing of beauty. He had to be down, there was no way anyone could still be reaching for the goal line that late after getting hit. Nope. He did it. It wasn’t even that he managed to reach it. It was that there simply seemed to be no stopping him, despite everyone in the stadium, including Penn State, knowing who was getting the ball.

The other thing that truly stood out was Mike Hart simply popping a 6′3″, 240lb Dan Connor on a pass play in which the whole stadium and the announcing booth did a double-take. Who else lays themselves out for their team the way this guy does?

Lee Corso put him as his early favorite to win the Heisman… but seriously, I don’t think it’s meant for him. Actually, I don’t think it’s worthy of him.

We’re going to miss him when he’s gone.
